Baggage
At Sharp Airlines we try to accommodate your needs. We can carry:
Up to 15 kilos of checked luggage and 6kg of carry-on luggage per paying customer
With prior notice we can carry most personal items, baggage in excess of this allowance may be carried subject to flight load capacity. Otherwise it will be carried on the next available flight. If you have a special request please call our office on 1300 55 66 94.

Baggage Restrictions
If meteorological conditions or operational requirements dictate, it may be necessary to restrict passengers luggage allowances. Sharp Airlines will endeavour to place your baggage on the next available flight.
International Baggage
Sharp Airlines will carry up to the limit of the international carrier, travellers may need to produce evidence of their international travel at check-in to receive the increased allowance.
Excess Baggage
An excess baggage fee of $3.30 (Inc GST) will be levied for each additional kg in excess of the 15kg limit.
Exceptions are:
- Melbourne (Essendon) - Flinders Island -$5.00 per kg* (minimum charge is $25kg per kg)
- Launceston - Flinders Island - $1.50 per kg* (minimum charge is $15.00 per kg)
*Subject to load restrictions
Dangerous goods Carriage of dangerous goods is prohibited as per Civil Aviation Safety Authority regulations. Listed below are examples of the types of articles that, for safety reasons, may not be carried on any Sharp Airlines' flights:
- Compressed gases e.g. refrigerants, flammable, non-flammable and poisonous gases such as butane, oxygen, liquid nitrogen, aqualung cylinders;
- Corrosives such as acids, alkalis, mercury and wet cell batteries;
- Explosives, munitions, fireworks and flares;
- Flammable liquids and solids such as lighter fuel, matches, paints, thinners or fire-lighters;
- Radioactive materials;
- Oxidising materials such as bleaching powder and peroxides; and
- Poisonous and infectious substances such as insecticides, weed killers and live virus materials.

Golf Clubs Golf clubs can be carried on our airline services but prior notice is required for charter services. Baggage limits still apply (see above).
Prams Smaller "umbrella" type prams are preferred over larger collapsible prams.
Surfboards
Surfboards may be carried provided they do not exceed 2300mm (length) x 450mm (width) x 230mm (height). Fins must be removed if possible.

Size, Dimensions and Weight Baggage must not exceed the following weight and dimensions;
- Maximum weight of any one item must not exceed 32 kg.
- Square or rectangular objects = 750mm (length) x 450mm (width) x 500mm (height).
- Elongated objects = 2300mm (length) x 450mm (width) x 230mm (height).
Cancellation
Flights cancelled by Sharp Airlines are fully refundable.
No refunds are given to passengers other than for tickets purchased as 'Fully Flexible' fares. 'Fully Flexible' fares are transferable to alternative dates or people.
In some circumstances consideration for refund or transfer may be given on compassionate grounds, subject to the following conditions:
Compassionate Grounds — Death Passengers traveling on tickets other than "Fully Flexible" tickets can apply for a refund or booking change in circumstances concerning the unfortunate death or imminent death of a direct family member. Sharp Airlines will require a letter of proof from a member of the Clergy, Funeral Director or Policeman/Woman. A decision to grant an exemption from our general cancellation policy will be wholly at the discretion of Sharp Airlines.
Compassionate Grounds — Serious Illness Passengers traveling on tickets other than "Fully Flexible" tickets can apply for a refund or booking change due to serious illness. Sharp Airlines will require a letter of proof from a General Practitioner. A decision to grant an exemption from our general cancellation policy will be wholly at the discretion of Sharp Airlines
E-Ticket
All E-tickets issued by Sharp Airlines will be sent to the customer by e-mail or fax. Alternatively we can arrange for your e-ticket to be waiting at your departure airport. Full terms and conditions can be found on our website. Please note that identification will be required at check in.
Travelling with an Infant
To ensure your infant or child are safe and have a comfortable and enjoyable flight, please read the following information carefully.
If your child is less than 24 months (less than two years of age), they are classified as an Infant and must be nursed in the arms of a parent or guardian. If your child is 25 months (over 2 years of age) they are classified as a child and require their own ticket and seat.
When checking in with children or infants, please provide proof of their Date of Birth, passports, extracts or copies of birth certificates are acceptable, as are Immunisation books.
Infant restraint belts are available on all aircraft and must be worn by infants on take-off, landing, during turbulence and whenever airline staff advise or the seat belt sign is illuminated.
Freight - Airline
Sharp Airlines provides a same day freight service from Essendon (Melbourne), Avalon (Geelong), Hamilton, and Portland.
In conjunction with Air Express Sharp Airlines provides freight services between Adelaide and Port Augusta and between Adelaide and Mildura.
As no other freight company can match our same-day pricing structure, our services are widely used by many businesses. Please refer to our timetables in the Airline Section for flight schedules.
General Conditions Forwarding of freight to or from our bases is the responsibility of the customer. We ask that all assigned freight be delivered at least 45 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time to guarantee carriage.
Size, Dimensions and Weight Due to the limited amount of baggage space on our aircraft, all freight carried must not exceed the following dimensions and weight;
- Maximum weight of any one item must not exceed 32 kg;
- Square or rectangular objects = 750mm (length) x 450mm (width) x 500mm (height);
- Elongated objects = 2300mm (length) x 450mm (width) x 230mm (height)
Consignment Note All freight must be accompanied by a Consignment Note describing the following:
- Freight Dimensions;
- Total Gross weight including packaging;
- Description of Contents;
- Dangerous Goods Declaration.

Medical Conditions
Passenger Information Passengers with medical conditions must make their bookings through Sharp Airlines Reservations Office on 1300 55 66 94.
Sharp Airlines may request that passengers have their physician read and complete the Medical Certificate of Fitness to Travel form when the passenger:
- has an unstable medical/mental condition; or
- is recovering from an acute illness or infectious disease; or
- has been released from hospital in the previous 24 hours; or
- requires oxygen in-flight.
If there is any doubt about the suitability of air travel of any passenger, the recommending medical practitioner will be consulted directly by Sharp Airlines.
Reservation Office Manager The Medical Certificate of Fitness to Travel form is available from the Reservations Office. Alternatively, please click on the above link. Should the form be required, it must be completed, signed by a medical practitioner and returned to Sharp Airlines Reservations Office prior to travel.
Minors - Unaccompanied
If a child is travelling without the supervision of a parent or guardian, and is aged between 5 and 14 years, they are classified as being an Unaccompanied Minor. To make a booking for an Unaccompanied Minor contact your local Sharp Airlines Office on 1300 55 66 94 as bookings cannot be made online.
Children under the age of 5 years will not be carried unaccompanied on any Sharp Airlines flight.
Booking the Flight At the time of booking we will require the parent/guardian who is checking in the child to complete an Unaccompanied Minors Form. Once completed, details must be faxed to Sharp Airlines main Reservations Office on 03 5574 8258.
At the Airport Unaccompanied Minors must arrive at the Sharp Airlines Terminal at least 30 minutes prior to departure. This will allow ample time for check-in procedures. When the minors arrive at the Terminal they will be asked to fill out a Sharp Airlines Unaccompanied Minors Form. Please ensure that you, or the Unaccompanied Minor, is carrying photo identification as this will be checked against the information provide to Sharp Airlines on the Unaccompanied Minors Form.
In The Air Unaccompanied Minors are supervised by Sharp Airlines crew from when the flight boards until they are handed over to the parent or guardian at their destination. Unaccompanied Minors should be able to travel without constant supervision as flights operated by Sharp Airlines do not carry a flight attendant. A child must be able to sit upright unaided in the purchased seat, with the seat belt adjusted securely without any slack around the waist.
On Arrival A parent or nominated guardian should be at the Sharp Airlines Terminal to meet the child upon arrival. The parent or guardian should have suitable photo identification and will be asked to sign Sharp Airlines Unaccompanied Minor Form. Once sufficient identification has been provided the child will then be handed over to the parent or guardian.
Special Notes Encourage your child to take a favourite toy or doll on the flight. Please explain that they will have the responsibility of looking after it throughout the journey. This will help your child feel more secure and ‘at home’
Other Regulations For safety reasons, a maximum of two Unaccompanied Minors are allowed per flight. The Unaccompanied Minor will not be provided with any special services in flight.
Please note that there are no toilet facilities on Sharp Airlines Aircraft.
If a parent or guardian is not at the destination, the child will be placed back on the flight with the Sharp Airlines crew and returned to the original departure point, at a cost to the parent/guardian.
Payment
Payment is required at the time of booking. We accept all credit cards or Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). Payment by cheque or cash is permitted subject to certain conditions. Cheques must be received and cleared no less than 7 days prior to the date of departure unless otherwise approved by management. Cash can only be used if delivered on the day of booking to one of our operating bases/airports.
In line with standard industry practice, Sharp Airlines has introduced a credit card surcharge for all credit card types. All payments made by credit card will attract a % surcharge as follows:

Please Note: Dogs consigned from Victoria to Tasmania will only be accepted if covered by veterinary certificate showing the animal has been treated against hydatids. Animals over 30kg will not be accepted for uplift as they are too large for the maximum size crate.

Portland, Hamilton, Essendon and Avalon Pets can ONLY be carried on flights to and from – Portland, Hamilton, Essendon and Avalon. Pets CANNOT be carried on flights to and from Port August, Adelaide or Mildura.
On approved flights pets may be carried accompanied or unaccompanied on Sharp Airlines as long as the following requirements are met:
- Pets are carried in an RSPCA approved "Pet Pack" which can be purchased through your local pet shop or vet.
- Maximum cage/crate size in 680mm (length) x 400mm (width) x 510mm (height) and must contain a moisture absorbent mat.
- Sharp Airlines does not provide a forwarding service so arrangements must be made for unaccompanied pets to be collected on arrival.
- A charge of $75 per cage/crate will be charged for all pet travel.
Port Augusta, Mildura and Adelaide

Reservations & Getting There on Time
We recommend that you contact our office 24 hours prior to travel to confirm your booking. It is also recommended that after completing your forward journey you check with the Reservations Office to ensure that your local address or telephone number is correctly recorded. In the event of an unforeseen change in schedule we will advise you of the amended departure time.
It is essential that all customers arrive at the airport with enough time to check-in before their flight.
Adelaide, Avalon, Essendon, Launceton & Flinders Island Airports
Check-in Commences: 60 mins before departure
Check-in Ends: 30 mins before departure
Boarding Commences: 15 mins before departure
Hamilton, Mildura, Port Augusta & Portland Airports
Check-in Commences: 30 mins before departure
Check-in ends & Boarding Commences: 15 mins before departure
Time between connecting flights
If you plan on booking a connecting or follow-on flight, during the winter months in particular, Sharp Airlines recommends the following minimum times between the first flight arrival and next take off:
- 2 hours for domestic bookings; and
- 4 hours for international bookings.
These are the minimum times required to collect baggage, and complete check-in procedures for your second flight.
Taxis
Taxis can be hired at all airports. Alternatively, advise our Check In desk if you want to arrange for a taxi to be waiting at your destination.
Travel Conditions
- A maximum of 15 Kilos of baggage per paying passenger may be carried. We can accept larger amounts of luggage up to the international limit if notified at the time of booking. The operator has the right to off-load any excess baggage to the next available flight.
- All reservations must be confirmed with final payment at the time of booking. Seats will not be held unless payment is received. Passengers are strongly advised to reconfirm their booking 24 hours prior to travel.
- Passengers and their baggage must arrive at check-in at least 30 minutes prior to departure or carriage cannot be guaranteed. Boarding commences 20 minutes prior to scheduled departure time.
- Refunds are given if our flights are cancelled due to inclement weather or aircraft unserviceability. Refer to individual ticket conditions for fare refund due to passenger cancellations or no-shows.
- It is recommended that after completing the forward journey you check with reservations on 1300 556694 to ensure that your local address or telephone number is correctly recorded. In the event of an unforeseen change in schedule, we will advise you of the amended departure time.
- Carriage of dangerous goods is prohibited as per Civil Aviation Safety Authority regulations.
- For safety reasons, dangerous articles such as those listed below must not be carried in passengers’ baggage.
- Compressed gases (deeply refrigerated, flammable, non-flammable and poisonous) such as butane, oxygen, liquid nitrogen, and aqualung cylinders.
- Corrosives such as acids, alkalis, mercury and wet cell batteries. Apparatus containing mercury.
- Explosives, munitions, fireworks and flares.
- Flammable liquids and solids such as lighter fluid, matches, paints, thinners and fire-lighters.
- Radioactive materials.
- Briefcases and attaché cases with installed alarm devices.
- Oxidising materials such as bleaching powder, peroxides.
- Poisons and infectious substances such as insecticides, weed killers and live virus materials.
- Other dangerous articles such as magnetised material, offensive or irritating materials.
- Medicines and toiletries in limited quantities which are necessary or appropriate for the passenger during the journey, such as hairsprays, perfumes and medicines containing alcohol may be carried. Many of these listed articles can be carried as air cargo provided they are packed in accordance with cargo regulations.
- The carrier is not a common carrier and reserves the right to refuse to carry any passenger, baggage or goods without assigning any reason.
- The conditions of travel are valid only for the passenger named herein and may not be transferred.
- Scheduled or other times of departure and arrival are not guaranteed, but the passenger must be ready at the aerodrome or other place of departure 30 minutes before the stated or advertised time of departure of the aircraft and no claim for refund will be entertained if the passenger does not comply with this condition. The carrier may decide, without notice, the suitability or otherwise of meteorological and other conditions for the performance of any flight. The carrier may change the route and the time and place of departure and landing and accepts no responsibility for making connections.
- The passengers shall not take into the aircraft or have in his baggage any explosives, volatile spirits, corrosive substance, alcoholic liquor, matches (other than safety matches), any ignitable article or other thing likely to cause inconvenience to passengers or likely to injure aircraft, passengers or baggage.
- The passenger, his luggage and goods are carried entirely at his own risk, and the carrier accepts no responsibility for damage, including death, injury, delay or loss of any nature arising out of or incidental to the said carriage or any services ancillary thereto (including transport of the passenger, his luggage and goods, to and from any aerodrome or taking off or landing places, and including any substituted method of carriage as in the next condition hereinafter mentioned), and the passenger for himself and his executors, administrators and dependents expressly renounces all claims against the carrier in respect thereof, whether the same day may be due or alleged to be due to negligence or misconduct on the part of the carrier or not.
- If the carrier is unable to commence or complete the flight specified the carrier will forward the passenger to his destination by other available means as soon as possible or at the option of the carrier will refund the monies paid by the passenger hereunder less value of any flown mileage which shall be calculated by the carrier whose assessment thereof shall be accepted by the passenger. The passenger shall not be bound to accept the substituted method of carriage, but beyond providing such substituted method of carriage or refunding as aforesaid the carrier shall not be under any further or other liability.
- While entering or leaving the aircraft the passenger shall not walk in front of the aircraft or in the vicinity of the engines, and shall not smoke in, or in the vicinity of, the aircraft nor throw anything from the aircraft. The passenger shall remain seated during taxiing and when required by the carrier during the flight. The passenger will comply with all reasonable requests made of him or her, or by the carrier, for the safety of the flight. The carrier may cancel engagement to be flown hereunder without assigning any reason and the carrier shall not be under any liability as a result thereof except as in condition 6 as provided.
- The carrier may substitute any other aircraft for the aircraft scheduled to perform any flight or transfer the passenger at any intermediate stopping place to another aircraft and all the conditions of this ticket shall apply to carriage by such substituted aircraft or other means of transport.
- The carrier may arrange with any other person or corporation to undertake the carriage hereby contracted for, or services thereto (including the transportation of the passenger, his luggage and goods to and from any aerodrome or taking off or landing place, or any part thereof), and any such person or corporation and his, her or its servants, agents and employees shall be protected by and shall be entitled to the benefit of these conditions to the same extent as the carrier. No proceedings in respect of any matter or thing arising out of or incidental to the carriage of the passenger, his luggage or goods hereby contracted for shall be instituted or carried by the passenger or any other person except against the carrier.
- The carrier shall provide the aircraft at the commencement of the charter properly manned, equipped and fuelled and shall so maintain it during the period of its engagement hereunder.
- The crew operating the aircraft shall be the servants or agents of the carrier and are authorised to take orders only from the carrier unless otherwise agreed in writing between the carrier and the passenger.
- The passenger shall not pledge the aircraft or the credit of the carrier for any purpose.
- The passenger shall not assign the benefit to any other person without the consent of the carrier or enter into any sub-contract hereunder.
- The passenger shall indemnify the carrier against all claims, actions and demands whatsoever arising from any charter made pursuant hereto.
- Passengers shall comply with all laws with respect to the entry clearance and carriage of passengers or cargo and all other laws of the places in which the aircraft employed hereunder shall land or from which the same shall depart.
- Wheresoever this ticket may have been issued, the conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Victoria , and any proceedings against the carrier shall be bought only in the State of Victoria.
- In these conditions the expression 'the carrier' shall mean Sharp Airlines, it servants, agents and employees and any person or corporation with whom Sharp Airlines, may have arranged as in condition 9 hereof mentioned and his or its servants, agents or employees, the expression 'the passenger' shall mean the passenger to whom the conditions of travel apply to and any person carried by virtue of the issue hereof and shall also include any charterer of an aircraft and his servants, agents and employees. Words importing the singular or plural number of the masculine or feminine gender shall where the context permits include the plural or singular number of the feminine or masculine gender as the case may be.
- The liability of the carrier under this contract is subject in all respects to the provisions of the Civil Aviation (CARRIER LIABILITY) Act and in particular in respect of death or injury is limited to the sum of $500,000 and in respect of baggage is limited to the sum of $1600 including maximum of $160 in respect of baggage other than registered baggage.
