Launceston Airport has opened a new passenger terminal, freight and engineering facility for Sharp Airlines. Launceston General Manager, Pamela Graham, said that the new terminal facility was adjacent to the main terminal and will provide passengers with more options, convenience and an improved experience at Launceston Airport. “We are really pleased to have worked with Sharp Airlines in relocating their terminal. Now that Sharp Airlines will be adjacent to the main terminal, Flinders Island passengers be able to enjoy the facilities in the main terminal building including more retail options and better access to cafes and banking facilities” Ms Graham said. Sharp Airlines Director Malcolm Sharp said “The new facility and partnership arrangement with Launceston Airport is further indication of our long term commitment to Tasmania and in particular, to the Bass Strait Islands. The improved access for passengers, as well as freight, combined with increased connectivity, makes it easier for our passengers to continue their travels with other interstate airlines.” “To complement the relocation of our terminal facilities, we’re also going to establish a new maintenance base at Launceston. I look forward to sharing more details on this soon.” Sharp Airlines was established over 21 years ago and has been operating at Launceston Airport since 2010. Sharp Airlines has an extensive route network in mainland states and is the only airline that provides regular passenger services between Launceston and Flinders Island. Sharp Airlines will commence operations from the new terminal facility in July.
