Freight and Passenger Supervisor


Sharp Airlines provides an essential and important air service to the communities of King and Flinders Island on a daily basis. Our employees play an important role in delivering unique and high-quality service to the Island travellers, to the extent that we consider ourselves to be part of those communities.

We are seeking suitable applicants to work full-time at our Launceston Airport freight and passenger terminal.

It is preferred the applicant has had previous experience in a similar role in aviation.

An essential and non-negotiable requirement for the role is the willingness to commit to the working hours of 5.30am to 12.30pm Monday to Friday.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Consign large volumes of time-critical and essential freight to King and Flinders Island every weekday morning
  • Passenger check-in to King and Flinders Islands every weekday morning
  • Assist in operational matters as requested
  • Operate aviation-based systems with extensive computer skills 
  • Be the 'face' of the airline, representing the company and the brand in all customer, supplier and freight forwarder interactions

The position requires excellent customer service skills, as well as a thorough understanding of the unique and vital role Sharp Airlines plays in providing essential services to the Islands.


Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Prior experience in a similar role in the aviation industry highly regarded
  • Extensive experience in an office environment in a customer service/administrative role with proven abilities to perform in a dynamic and changing work environment
  • High level of computer literacy, including highly accurate word processing, spreadsheet and database skills. 
  • Highly developed customer relations and interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly developed time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to multi-task whilst maintaining the highest of standards
  • Proven ability to work autonomously


Certificates, Licenses and Professional Accreditations

The Freight and Passenger Supervisor should have: 

  • Australian Year 12 or equivalent minimum
  • High level of proficiency in computer skills with experience/knowledge with Microsoft Office applications
  • Typing skills of 50 wpm minimum
  • A current Senior First Aid certificate is preferred, but there are no specific licenses required to be held for this position

CAMO Engineer

Summary

The CAM/HAAMC is the nominated post holder, reporting to the Accountable Manager, responsible for all of the aircraft airworthiness and maintenance control aspects of the Sharp Airlines fleet. The CAMO Engineer will assist the CAM/HAAMC in meeting this responsibility and in ensuring that all Sharp Airlines operations are conducted safely, compliantly and efficiently.

Hours of work to be negotiated with CEO.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The CAMO Engineer must, either personally or by delegation to staff, consultants or contractors:

  • Embrace & pro-actively practice the company’s Core Values and adhere to the company’s Code of Conduct.
  • Demonstrate reliability, accuracy and willingness to accept responsibility.
  • Assist the CAM to manage the Continuing Airworthiness standards and regulatory compliance of all company aircraft to a high and professional standard.
  • Research, develop, implement and monitor the efficiency and reliability of the fleet.
  • Assist the CAM to develop, implement and maintain appropriate and compliant Continuing Airworthiness Management instructions and procedures with particular regard to Minimum Equipment Lists, CAMO Exposition, Systems of Maintenance and Approved Maintenance Programs.
  • Ensure that the Approved Maintenance Programmes for each aircraft are kept up to date with all mandatory requirements
  • Compile / Process workpacks using company Takeflite maintenance system.
  • Assess technical data with regards to applicability to fleet.
  • Maintain aircraft engine and propeller logbooks.
  • Monitor and maintain aircraft maintenance status on Takeflite.
  • Working with Approved Maintenance Organisations, ensure that all aircraft and associated aeronautical product maintenance is correctly scheduled and carried out.
  • Identify, record, and control non-conforming products and services.
  • Control of sub-contractors employed by the CAMO to assist with aircraft maintenance.
  • Investigation and reporting of defects.
  • Liaise with CASA when required re airworthiness & maintenance issues.
  • Production, management and distribution of technical data.
  • Provide an enthusiastic and positive high level of service to internal management and external customers.
  • Maintain positive & effective working relationships with staff, suppliers and CASA officers.
  • In conjunction with the CAM & CEO participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and priorities relating to airworthiness and maintenance across the Group.
  • Coordinate appropriate staff training where necessary.
  • Accomplish positive results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring and appraising job results; coaching, counselling and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating and enforcing systems policy and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and potential cost savings.
  • Oversee, supervise and assist when necessary to maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
  • Perform duties in a safe and healthy manner, in line with OHS & Airline Safety Regulations, and as instructed by the General Manager Safety & Quality Assurance
  • Apply the utmost confidentiality to the day-to-day activities within the department. No information relating to any audit, investigation or confidential interview (whether in person or by telephone) is to be shared with parties outside of the department unless lawfully required to do so.
  • Contribute to the overall performance of the business by achieving required results.
  • Carry out monthly reporting as required.
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement strategies.


Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the General Manager of Safety & Quality Assurance in the role of the CAMO Quality Manager as per the CAMO Exposition and SMS to:
    • ensure procedures are carried out consistently and in compliance with applicable requirements (Quality Control);
    • have in place elements necessary to reduce risks;
    • in consultation with the CAM, ensure the CAMO continuously reviews and improves procedures through the CAMO’s SMS;
    • acquit CAMO audit findings and observations;
    • complete CAMO safety investigations.


Key Performance Indicators

Key performance indicators include:

  • on time performance and aircraft maintenance, as measured by relevant data
  • reduction of errors and delays in maintenance control tasks
  • reduction of errors on all documentation.
  • CAMO productivity, as measured by:
    • safety and incident statistics
    • budget performance and cost control measures,
    • maximisation of cost, efficiency and safety benefits,
    • achievement of company policy directives.

  • experience in Continuing Airworthiness Management/Maintenance Control desirable.
  • type experience relevant to Fairchild SA227 Metroliner and Cessna C441 Conquest aircraft preferred. 
  • has a very sound engineering background and a very good understanding of the regulations.
  • have an excellent understanding of the organisation infrastructure requirements and strategic goals to conduct the company's operations.
  • have demonstrable leadership and interpersonal skills appropriate to the position.
  • have demonstrable experience in administrative and supervisory roles and interpersonal skills appropriate to the position.
  • thorough understanding of and commitment to teamwork.
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • time management and organisational skills.
  • flexibility and willingness to undertake a wide variety of tasks.
  • have a high level of computer literacy, with sound knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and Takeflite or equivalent Computerised Maintenance Management Software.
  • have the ability to multi-task whilst maintaining the highest of standards.


Certificates, Licenses and Professional Accreditations

The CAMO Engineer should:

  • hold, or have held, an aircraft engineer licence in category B1, B2 or C;
  • hold, or have held, a licence that is equivalent to a licence in category B1, B2 or C;
  • have a qualification in aircraft maintenance at least at Certificate IV level;
  • have a qualification in aviation maintenance management at least at diploma level, or
  • have an engineering qualification at least at diploma level in any of the following disciplines:
    1. aeronautical
    2. avionics
    3. mechanical
    4. electrical
    5. electronics
  • have the ability to qualify or hold an ASIC and airside driver’s licence.


Other Information

This position involves a combination of office, hangar and maintenance oversight work, with interstate travel required.
