In 2022, Sharp Airlines will carry in excess of one million kilograms of freight across our network of ports. Tasked with a variety of jobs to a variety of locations, we have carried freight from within our local neighbourhood to as far away as Cape York.
Carrying everything from small precision drills, 2000 kg mining equipment, commercial shellfish, legal documents and electronic equipment, we even deliver milk to the supermarket on King Island. Sharp carries more freight to King and Flinders Islands than it carries from the islands.
Between 600 – 1000 kilograms of Australia Post items are shipped daily to King Island, depending on seasonal demands. For Flinders Island, Sharp carries supplies of milk, fruit, vegetables and grocery items three days per week to the island supermarket and store at Lady Barron.
Melbourne markets are supplied with fresh fish from Flinders Island twice weekly along with local meat products for mainland restaurants. Our aircraft can be equipped to carry live fish for the domestic or international market. We carry most types of plastic fish bins and polystyrene containers up to a gross weight of 1000 kg (subject to weather and operational requirements). The larger bin size is preferred as it allows for more net fish weight to be carried. We use a dedicated freight liner/net which reduces exposure to direct sunlight, noise and vibration.
Sharp operates a pickup and delivery service within a couple of hours of the airport and can arrange a similar service from other areas of the state for a nominal fee. Facilities at the airport are modern with plenty of undercover space and easy loading.
Whether large or small, your freight is important to us.
